An Exclusive Fight Preview by A.C. Mann.
In a rematch of an exciting fight that took place at LFC27 [0-0], we have Tomiko Tajima [0-0] vs. Jenny Valentine [0-0]. When they first met, Jenny, in the midst of a flu-like illness, came out strong. Possibly knowing that her reserves are going to fail her at some point during the match. Valentine, riding high after her first LFC win at LFC26 [0-0], takes control of the first two rounds and builds a lead over the unwavering Tajima via a variety of strong holds. However, the third round finally caught up with her; she had no choice but to withstand a surging Tomiko. In spite of not feeling well, Valentine records a unanimous decision victory, proving that she can go the distance. Valentine falls to the mat in an obvious sign of relief and later gives a nod to a worthy opponent.
Tomiko, as usual, came to fight. Her record in no way indicates what she brings to the league or what she is capable of doing in the cage/ring. Conditioned to go the distance at all times, Tomiko poses a serious threat to any fighter in her way.
Hand-to-hand combat is exhaustive and challenges a fighter to make quick decisions, leaving them susceptible to mistakes. ‘The Temptress’ relishes in this domain, always looking for openings to alter the momentum of a fight. At LFC 27, she did just that. In the third round we saw her nearly submit her opponent with a choke hold that was desperately broken.
Expect an element of surprise in their second go-round. As both fighters enter the cage, but only one can leave victorious.
Tomiko was kind enough answer some questions:
A.C:
You certainly have imposed your fighting style on the LFC. Every one of your fights have gone the distance in close matches that often saw you on the losing end. Your thoughts on why or how you have been able to do that rather quickly.
TTT:
I have always been the kind of person that does everything 110%. I fight with a lot of heart, and I believe that is why I am always able to go the distance. I am never a quitter even if the fight is not going in my favor. My goal is not to be taken down. If I can make it to the decision of judges, then I leave the fight feeling like I have won regardless of the outcome. I know in my heart that I gave it 110% and to me, that is what a winner is made of.

Your fight with Jenny Valentine, even in losing, cemented your presence in the LFC. How do you feel about fighting her again and do you foresee a different outcome?
TTT:
I am super pumped about fighting her again. I felt that our match was pretty close the last time we fought. All I can say, is that I am going to fight with as much heart as I did last time. I am going to do my best, and I predict that I will make it all three rounds like I always do because I never give up. Regardless of the outcome, I will leave the fight feeling like a winner and will give Jenny a good fight.

How is your training for LFC 30 going?
TTT:
The pandemic really put a wrench in things with the closures of gyms and other fitness businesses. I wasn’t going to let that stop me from keeping up with my fitness and strength training. I trained early in the morning at the park 6 days a week and I used gym equipment I have at home as well. I managed to shave off 10 lbs from the last time I fought in July 2019. When the gyms opened back up, I have been training harder with weights and doing cardio as well to build up my stamina. I am lighter, faster, stronger, and leaner. I have also been studying some moves. I hope to make a good impact on the LFC 30 fight.

I have to ask about the vicious kick to your privates that Jenny gave you in your first fight. It was uncomfortable to watch. Can you tell us anything about the surprise and how it felt?
TTT:
That was quite the surprise when she gave me that kick. It definitely had an impact on me, but I wasn’t going to let it stop me from fighting. I just sucked it up, dealt with it, and kept myself in the fight. A kick like that, no matter how hard, is not going to stop me from keeping my focus on the fight. I look forward to seeing what other “little” surprises pop up in this next fight with Jenny, and welcome it with open arms. Bring it, Jenny! I am ready for you!
